- What about tofu?
Tofu is a curd made from soy milk, not unlike the way cottage cheese is made from milk, then pressed together. It takes on the flavor of the food it mixes with, and alone is basically tasteless. Research studies have shown that soy protein helps lower cholesterol, particularly bad LDL cholesterol. Studies are underway to see if soy can help fight cancer, keep your bones healthy, and even reduce hot flashes in menopausal women. Soy also contains phytochemicals, which are disease fighting substances believed to fight against cancer and heart disease. We therefore recommend that you give it a try!
